I have read suggestions regarding removing the battery, but this GoPro in particular has a battery that can't be removed - my next best idea is to totally drain the battery and let it sit before attempting another update. When using the iOS app to update, the app does tell me that the update was complete but to confirm by checking the GoPro - at which point it is clear that it wasn't successful. I have tried leaving it 'off' post-update for a long while (a couple of hours) to see if it turns back on by itself/completes the update, to no avail.
When updating via the mobile app it does cause the camera to show 'update failed', but the other methods do not. In order to turn it back on after this, I need to hold the power button down for way longer than usual (maybe 20 seconds), and then it will turn on like no update was even attempted. No matter which method I use, the GoPro always shows the update icon, does a reboot after ~10 seconds, shows the update icon again, and then turns off after a few seconds. Updating manually by formatting the SD card (have tried using both FAT32 and exFAT filesystems, have also tried without formatting at all), downloading the update, extracting the update to the card, inserting the card into the GoPro and turning it on.However, nothing I do seems to work, and the outcome always seems the same. I've been trying to update the firmware from 2.00 to the latest, 2.10 (he hasn't used it in a while due to upgrading). I recently bought a second hand Hero7 Silver from a friend of mine.
